Valeur Jensen Stamford Denmark Race – 32 seconds!

32 seconds. 32… Missing first place by 32 seconds is not easy. 32 seconds we gave up on the first leg. And on the second. And definitely on the last leg before crossing the finish line. A ton of talent on the boat (special shoutout to Ben Quincy – Nantucket’s finest sailor) and the desire to take the crown but in the end 32 seconds short.
The mighty Slingshot (Melges 24) with our captain Chris at the helm showed that it was possible. First in class and first in fleet – in strong wind conditions that favored the bigger boats!
32 seconds will motivate us in the next race to be even better and take the biggest trophy home. All in all a spectacular event. Perfect visibility, perfect sun, perfect wind, perfect organization – the day had it all! Thank you SYC for the beautiful day.
… And yes – that is a broken carbon mast. Not ours though!
